Demographic information
According to the statisticaldata from February 1, 2011 the population of Razgrad District is 125,190 people, accounting for 14.5% of the population of the North Central Region and 1.7% of the population of Bulgaria, and ranks 23 th among other districts. In the period between the two censuses (2001-2011) the population of the region decreased by 27,227 people or by 17.9%.
The population in Razgrad District is divided into seven municipalities. It lives in 6 cities and 97 villages. In the the two largest cities of the district – Razgrad and Isperih, to 2011 lives a third of the population of the district (34.2%). In four settlements live below 100. There is permanent tendency of increasingof rural population and reduce the urban population.
The center of the district – Razgrad City, focusing 26% of the total population of the district and 56.27% of the urban population. The population of the city has higher living and labor potential and higher educational level.
The age structure of the population of the district is more favorable than the national average and the North Central region. The proportion of young generation is lower than that of the adult population, as is the trend in the country.
The urban population in Razgrad District has higher production potential, while the rural population is aging.
